I have a 98 Mauser sporter in 8x68 that I want to use with the 8mm 200gr Nosler Partition. Any help with suggested powders/volumes. I'm not necessarily looking for a pussycat here. thanks

I had Atkinson & Marquart of Prescott, AZ make me upo one on a Mauser action and another on a Winchester 70 action during the late 1950's. It's a wonderful cartidge - a non-beltede magnum ca. 70 years ahead of todays popular non-belted magnums. I wrote to RWS in Germany and obtained the chamber dimensions from them and had A&M make the chamber reamer and go gage. As an aside I never considerd the belt as anything more than cosmetic adornment.
I had some loads chronographed ca 1960 using the RWS Berdan primer and both Hodgdon 4831 and IMR 4350 powders. In the 1970 or 80's I founf some RWS Boxer primed brass but had an adequate supply of old pre WWII RWS ammo and brass and their odd size Berdan primer (still have some of the primers). Unfortunately, when I sold the guns ca 10 years ago, I discarded the load information. As I remember I started with the 300 H&H load data and worked up from there. I never obtained rthew velocities of the 8mm Rem Mag byt was close to the 300 Win Mag as I recollect.
I wish I could be of more help. Have fun with the gun.

I'm told there's reloading data for it in Hornady's Reloading Manual/Handbook but not available on-line. I don't have any of their reloading manuals either so I can't confirm it, but it may be a start to finding some data on it.

There is data in the RWS reloading manual for the 8x68S. Unfortunately that's in German language only and also not on line. The loading book is called 'Wiederladen' & can only be obtained from RWS dealers suposedly. It's a big book,,600+ pages. Don't know if it would help or not as I have no idea what componet/brand powders/primers etc they use for working up their loads. But it might be worth checking for a copy.
