Had my last smoke 90 days ago. I used the patch for about 5 weeks and threw them away.

I smoked for about 50 years, started when I was 12 or 13. Worst part was after eating. Didn't know what to do with myself, that's got a lot better. Honestly don't think about them much at all anymore.

My doc told me I needed to exercise more due to my cholesterol being jacked up ...never did any before, so I started riding my bike around the subdivision. It's only a mile, but I rode it fast and would be pretty winded when I got home. Summer came around and it got hot, so I bought a inside bike sorta thing. I can peddle it till my legs feel like their gonna fall off, and I still won't be out of breath. I noticed feeling better after about a week. No more wheezing or coughing.

My exercise thing. It's actually really cool, no worries about heat, cold or rain. Can read a book or watch TV while doing it.

My cholesterol has improved dramatically too. Numbers in red are from Jan 2020, green numbers are from the 13th of this month. I still eat the same awful food I've always ate, but cut out about 90% of sweet stuff.

Congrats, in May it will be 12 years since I quit cold turkey at age 49.
Now the smell of cigarettes or people who have recently smoked almost makes me nauseous.
I approached it like alcoholism, no cheating or sneaking just one. I also turn down any cigars if offered, don’t want to start another habit.

:) Congratulations!! I sincerely hope you stick with it. :)

I pushed my luck and didn't quit until 16 years ago when I got metastasized lung cancer and COPD. :(

My best buddy was a heavy smoker until one day he quit. His trick was lemon drops. I think he went through 10lbs of the things. Every time he felt a need for a cig he would grab a lemon drop. What ever works. That was 15 years ago and still smoke free. I never picked up the habit. Loved beer but sort of gave it up two or three years ago. Just lost the desire to drink beer.

I quit cigs about three years ago when I deiced to pick up the e-cig.

Before you all tell me that that thing is just as bad if not more bader than cigs listen to my story.

I only bought tobacco flavored vape oil and cut down the nic content every couple of months until I reached zero. At that point I was off of the nic and it was easy to quit the vape. I'd say less than a year.

That was about two years ago, I don't even know the date. I still want a cig but know I can never have another.

Congrats wood.

I worked with a guy that was bad too drink. He said the way too quit drinking was too quit putting the bottle too your mouth. Use the same method too quit smoking. I tried cutting back smoking and chewing and that didn't work. I've always been hard headed as a billy goat so Christmas 1986 I said I'm through with tobacco and I don't care if the decision kills me and I make everybody in the world angry. I don't know many people I made angry but for several weeks a bunch of people got on my nerves. My decision didn't kill me and so far it's working.
If it was easy too quit smoking everybody could do it. Get tough and hang in there. Larry

Good for you! What is that 'excercise thing', by the way?

Looks like they make a new model now. It's pretty cool you can use it to peddle like a bike or use your arms to peddle it.
