910 front sight install

I'm replacing the front sight on a S&W 910. How do you guys push it into the dovetail w/o mashing the sharp plastic sight edges? Sight is the factory plastic with metal insert in it. I was trying to adjust the original one back to center and I broke it. They don't have a flat spot to push on except the upright where the white dot is. And it breaks off thanks, rj
