oh...i'm out there.
Without examining both guns but assuming they are roughly equally worn which is the better deal: 910 @ $269. or 5906 @ $349. ?

Well heck, at that price, get both, silly Rabbit! :)

T'wer it I, the 5906 would be the choice if I could only take one. Not that there is anything wrong with the 910. The 910 has the Alloy frame and the single sided safety, so probably the better choice for carry.

My choice would be the 910.

The 5906 is a true 3rd Generation with metal parts and a bit more machining on the slide to make it more sleek. Heavier than the 910.

The 910 is the Value line pistol with some plastic parts and a more square slide. Also lacks the lock up on the barrel.

I still find the 910 to be very accurate carry pistol. But both are fine pistols.

Assuming equal condition, if I had to choose I'd get the 5906. The 910 is a great gun if you can get it for a good price, and $269 is definitely a good price. But $349 for a 5906 in excellent condition would be a better price.

If you get both, then you can make the 5906 the range gun and the 910 the carry piece. Just good luck getting a decent holster that fits the 910, as most quality brands only make them for the 59 series with the more-rounded contours.

5906 all the way.Even factoring in the cost of the gunsmithy in fixing my example the total price paid was $500.Considering that you get a reliable, tough, metal frame and slide firearm that will outlast your grandkids, its worth every penny.

Unless this was to be a CCW I'd go for 5906 also. Built like tank, with proper maintenance it will last a VERY long time. Either way buy a new recoil spring and replace it every 4-5000rds and you should be good to go.

Yabutt...
After FFL fees, shipping, etc. it'll be about the same...

That sucks. I found a guy that does FFL fees for $20. Then there are websites that do $8 shipping or whatever. The web always beats shops for me.

If possible, I would buy both at those prices. I have the 910S and it is a good gun. Have been watching for a 5906 in like new condition locally. I will keep both when I find the 5906.
