915

Aside from the barrel locking lug, does anyone recommend replacing these plastic parts with S&W steel parts as found in a 5906/915? Are they even available??
I'd replace with metal if the plastic parts fail. Steel and stainless steel internal parts seem fairly abundant on eBay and Jack First likely has everything you would need.

Dearest Mr. Sevens, Thank you for brutally deflating my 910s bubble ha ha! I'm happy to have it, looks nice and shoots great, and came with the 15 rounders which to me was part of the score. Maybe down the road I'll swap out the plastics...I haven't shot it all that much so far, but now that I type this just reminds me will need to heft out my bag of Wonder 59xx's next range visit.

Merry Christmas, Happy holidays to all !! 3GF

Well in my post #32 (and numerous others over years…) I do clearly state that I don't enjoy the part of the discussion that so often involves the 910 and 410. I don't care to slag other guns. If that were my goal, I would go find a Browning Hi-Power discussion. :D

But honestly, it would be like a discussion centered entirely around a 5904 and a happy 915 owner claiming that his pistol is absolutely just as good and was never meant to be a less expensive (cheaper) model. The cheaper sights and royally cheaper finish can't simply be ignored just because the 915 is a great pistol.

Hey, the 910 is a decent gun. Better than a Sigma and better than most of the dreck this company ships today. And the best way to make a case for the 910 is to keep the 915 out of the discussion.

Of course, if we scroll all the way back to the top, we be reminded that this was a Model 915 discussion.

Quick question on the 915. Can it take the same sights as the fixed sight 5906?

No -- it could, but you'd have to do some machine work on the slide.

Well wait, haha, let's clarify. If you are talking 95% of all the fixed rear sight 5906's ever made then you are speaking of the famous Novak Lo-Mount sight. And no, the 915 slide would need some small machine work to accommodate that legendary sight.

However, the very earliest 5906 pistols with the fixed rear sight work a simple fixed blade just like the fixed sight 639/659 pistols, and that dovetail is probably the same as a 915.

If you had a 915 and you wanted the excellent Novak rear sight, you could probably have Novak do the work, but BMCM might be an even better choice (assuming you could source the rear sight.)
