952-2 performance center - just bought, have questions

I too am jealous, there are not many metal Smith Semiautos (outside of 1911's) that go for more than $800 these days. Maybe he just generalized. Your gain his loss. Congratulations.

There are more threads about the 952, here is one of them.

Performance Center 952-2 longslide vs Performance Center PPC9 6"

My 952 is just a hair more accurate than my Sig P210, the only thing I don't like about my 952's is that the hammer is hard to get a hold of for cocking while dry firing. I don't think you can wear one out and they are rare, you have a great investment, congratulations!

You got the deal of the century on that one. There at least a couple versions of the 6" model. I have the 6" with the black/stainless combo finish and it's a great one. It's good company for my 952-1. Some of the better pistols that S&W made.

Just thinking out loud. If the pawn shop gave him let's say half of what they sold it for why would the guy let them have it for $400. You would think he would know it's value and would convince them it was worth more. Stolen? Something doesn't add up here.

Hey congrats, this stuff happens, its happened to most of us (maybe not to this extent) but they are out there. Usually not at pawn shops.
You really should keep it, unless its messed up somehow, not many non 22 cal handguns can match its accuracy. And the one you have is certainly a collectors item, its value will go up a lot faster than gold. Just shoot it, and take care of it. And save the receipt...I have sold several P/C semi autos over the years, I still have quite a few,BUT I REGRET selling ANY of them , so don't. If you like to shoot chances are you may never get to the time when you will spend 3500-4500 for a single pistol. And as of right now you own one for a fraction of the cost....
And by the way DONT sell it to some friend who has to have it or they might die or something, only to see them 6 months later and be told oh I needed the money so I sold it, it didn't really shoot that well for me, my wife thought it was ugly etc...Good luck Bob

Thanks Bob! Thankfully it looks like it won't sell (a $4500 reserve will do that lol) so I'll just enjoy it as long as I can. I appreciate the wisdom! Now back to the range
