I picked up this Lew Horton classic hunter last week. I have only seen one other in my travels but I know they made 5k of them. My question is, the book says it has a white outline rear sight but mine does not. the gun appears unfired and no evidence of change on the sight. What rear sight does yours have?

I have one that was bought new as well, and it doesn't have the white outline sights, but it does have Hogue grips.

Is that a 586? I have a 686 like that and it does not have a white outlined rear sight either

Not too sure what book you are quoting.

Traditionally a revolver with a Patridge front sight should always have a plain black blade rear sight.

None of the SKUs listed (103526, 103537) in the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson (3rd edition) list a 6" AF front with a WO rear. There was a third version made for export to Germany but the SCSW does not list it.

How do you know that 5000 were made and that yours is a Lew Horton? Do you know which product code that you own?

This one does not have a WO rear sight either.

I lettered mine, and Roy informed me that the order from Lew Horton was for 5000 guns, but there is some question of all 5000 were ever made. Mine dated to 7/21/88.
