99 year old Singer Sewing Machine

I remember our fist one, that got lots of use, however;
it was powered by my mothers foot.

Later on she received one that was electic power, on a very special Christmas
and I was amazed at how fast that needle would move up and down !!

Quite the invention.

My mothers was very similar, but a treadle (mom powered) model. My Wife had an electric Singer with multiple attachments when we got married. Still has it and uses it frequently still after 60 years.

Is it electric? My wife has a very similar appearing portable Singer electric sewing machine from 1950. She still uses it occasionally, but only for simpler sewing use. It has several attachments that she has never used.

She is an avid quilter and has two sewing machines which are essentially computers attached to sewing needles.

Yeah, my wife has one of those. It works great on those rare occasions when it works right. When I started making quilts, I used our old Kenmore machine we bought in the '70s that was on sale at Sears. Still works fine after all these years. I think we paid $79 for it.

It took couple of days but here is the pictures of the sewing machine we got. The neat thing is that it has a built in light attachment on the rear of it. Plus the cabinet has the electrical harness built in and it plugs into into the side of machine and the foot pedal is built in on the bottom of the cabinet
What fine craftsmanship!!

Bought my soon to be wife a Singer in 1975-6. She made her wedding dress and several of the bridesmaids dresses.
Made many of the kids clothes and repaired friends kids clothing. Finally wore it out after 47+ years. Wore out her Husquvarna (sp?) too.
Daughter is a theater costumer. Has a serious sewing machine that moves faster than I can see. I won't go near it...

My mother too used a treadle Singer sewing machine.
She started sewing when she was a young teen, in the 1920's, but she made many shirts, skirts and Halloween costumes for all us kids, along with a few for mom and dad too.
In addition to the clothes, she re-upholstered the couch, love seat, curtains and redid the upholstery, door panels and carpet, twice, for our 55 Chevy; all on the old treadle sewing machine.
