9c 12 round clips

I would keep the 10 rounders and use them on range day. I like to load up every mag I can find, and then spend my range time shooting instead of loading mags.

The 12 rounders had the same problem as the 10 rounders - I couldn't get the last round in the mag. I don't know why S&W has such a problem with that. I had to trim the springs and the followers just like I did with the 10 round magazine.

wdk535,
Until the springs get compressed a time or two, it is hard to get the last round in. Most of us use an Uplula to load our mags. Much easier on the fingers and no issues getting the last round in. If you do not have one, I highly recommend getting one. Totally worth it!

Mags will eventually wear out. Use the 10's at the range and reserve the 12's for social work after making sure they function flawlessly.

Not questioning what your saying, but short of springs and maybe followers what wears out?
The mag body should last forever, unless someone steps on it.

S&W use the same spring on all M&P 9mm, .40 and .357 which makes it difficult to load the last one on 12 and 10 rounders. It's almost impossible to load the 12th round on my 9c magazine and it will not lock when inserted. I replaced the springs on the 9c magazines with old ones from my full size and it has been perfect.

I just use the uplula... after a few range trips, the mags are easier to load. I can even get the last round in on my 9c.

If you think these mags are stiff, try owning a Sig... ;)

+100 On Sig mags. The P938 was impossible to get the 7th round in for the first 2 weeks. Loaded them with an Upula and left them sit for a week and all was fine. Same with my 9C 10-12 and shield mags.

X-grips are good for the range, but be careful using them on a back-up mag. If it accidentally slides up the mag, it can interfere w/ proper seating during an important reload! Most experts recommend removing them if it's for a back-up.

Just my $.02.

Soda, Pop, Coke..... Mag, Clip... These are regional things that REALLY do not matter to most. Can we stop correcting people on something that really does not matter???? I apologize for a minor thread hijack.

From the NRA-ILA glossary
CLIP
A device for holding a group of cartridges. Semantic wars have been fought over the word, with some insisting it is not a synonym for "detachable magazine." For 80 years, however, it has been so used by manufacturers and the military. There is no argument that it can also mean a separate device for holding and transferring a group of cartridges to a fixed or detachable magazine or as a device inserted with cartridges into the mechanism of a firearm becoming, in effect, part of that mechanism.

Despite what the NRA says I beg to differ. I don't believe "clip" and "magazine" are any more interchangeable than "pen" and "pencil". And if you think that pen and pencil are interchangeable I challenge you to sign any legal document or check with a pencil.

Interchanging mags and clips can cause a lot of confusion. I got into a raging argument with my very good friend when I asked him to get me a pile of mags. He said you never asked me for magazines, as in Playboy etc., then after many emails he told me that he did pick up the clips

Xgrip will pinch you real good too, if you're not careful.

I wonder if anyone has had an issue with over inserting a FS magazine into a Compact? Seems like that would be a bigger nightmare in a real use situation than pinching skin or the X-Grip sliding up the mag body.

Thanks,

I've used the larger mags a lot at the range (I hate reloading mags). I've used them with and without the X-Grip. I've never had an issue either way. I have four of them, and I bought the X-grip thingies one at a time over a few months. They are not needed, but the sure make things prettier.

I did eventually put a drop of silicone seal on each of the X-grips to keep them in place, but that was more to keep from losing them ($$$$ - I'm poor).
