A Colt Gold Cup 1911 for $1000 is $600 to $800 less than what I'm seeing them at. I'm leaning toward getting a Springfield but I'd be tempted to get a Gold Cup if I saw one for $1000.I picked up this Colt 9mm last year at the LGS for right at $1000.
I'm not a fan of the larger grips on the double stacks. Hmm. Saying double stack makes me want to run down to Wendy's!Have you considered a double stack 9mm or 2011 as some call it?
Not really a fan of the 9MM, but will be building up the parts to make a M1911 function with 9MM. Was bored and had pieces/parts laying around. I have a 1958 Colt .38 Super that had been modified back in the day to shoot .38 Special (probably before the Mid Ranges were manufactured). Decided to get a .38 Super barrel for it and that would give me two guns in one. Then a friend gave me a .40 cal barrel and I have fitted that to the same slide. So 3 in 1 now. Will be looking for a 9MM barrel and mag then will get it functioning also, so 4 in 1. Also have a .45 Slide and barrel for the frame and a Colt Conversion Unit (.22LR) for the set up. When all done will be shooting six different calibers off of one frame. Being bored can get expensive and complicated!

Bh, I've had this or that 9mm 1911 since the '70s. I like them all, but one issue I've experienced with all my Colt 9mms as received, including my current one, unreliability with other than RN ball ammo. This, due to Colt's unramped barrel. I've had some 9mm 1911s that were reliable with all types of 9mm ammo, JHPs, JFPs, etc., from day one. They were/are from Springfield, Kimber, STI and Dan Wesson that all utilize the integrally ramped barrels.
My current Colt, after hundreds of factory rounds expended, will now feed the old Federal 115 JHP type ammo with the small hollow point. Not surprised, this ammo will feed in about any pistol that will feed ball. Tried another type factory JHP the other day; immediate dive into feed ramp, full stop..
I've owned two 9mm Ronins, a 5" that I sold for forum member sceva that can be seen in post #28, and a 4.25" that I just bought under Springfield's Firstline Program.]
