Hi,

I have been reading the posts from those who have done 9mm conversions on J frames such as mod. 60's and 640's. I was wondering about doing one on my model 337Ti. I was thinking of getting a second cylinder for it in 9mm and having it fitted so I can convert it back if I wish to. Looking for suggestions. Advantages, pros and cons of the conversion. I could also have my cylinder cut for moons.

Thanks much,

tom

Tom,
If you're interested in trying the project, I have a nice M36 cylinder/crane/yoke assembly. Send me a PM if interested.

Tom,
I can't comment much on the fitting of a cylinder, but I did have a M637 converted to 9mm moonclips by TK Custom. All I had to do was remove the cylinder, and send it with the ejector rod/extractor star, and 10 days later I had it back rechambered for 9mm and cut for moonclips. I paid $225 and have been very pleased with it. I carry it almost every day.

Being your 337Ti will have the magnum lenth cylinder I would go with the convertion like safearm recomended..
In fact I swapped around with safearm & aquired a 940-1 cylinder that I fit to my 642 No Dash that worked out great for me..
940 & 940-1 cylinders are the early 38 special lenth cylinders & have read that there was a 940-2 with a magnum lenth cylinder but have never seen one or a cylinder for one, And I've looked too..
You could also aquire another magnum lenth cylinder & fit it to your yolk/crane & then have it modified & then you could swap cylinders..
I've seen safearms convertion & it looks like a great convertion..
Here's the link to TK Customs http://www.tkcustom.com/
Have a look at the video of them machining a 686 cylinder
