Do both the M&P 9 FS and 9L use the same frame? I saw a company offering a 9L slide with fitted aftermarket barrel and some other tweeks, and wondered if it would work on a standard 9.

Yes, they are identical:D But I would be suspicious about the "fitted" barrel description. The M&P is not a 1911 and "fitting" doesn't have the same meaning, all the barrels "fit".

Fitted "aftermarket" barrel.

You can get gunsmith fit barrels from KKM and Storm lake that require fitting for a better lock up.

Yes the FS and L use the same frame.

This sounds like one of those companies trying to separate you from your money for no good reason.

Putting a "fitted" or "custom" barrel in a service pistol is a colossal waste of money and will net you nothing.

Fitted and custom barrels belong in custom guns, where everything is fitted. Slipping a custom barrel into a factory slide is akin to putting a Mercedes emblem on the grill of a Chevy - it's still a Chevy.

Thanks for the replies. I have no real experience with aftermarket fitted barrels other than shooting a Salient Arms G17. It shot very nice but I could miss just as well with it as I could a stock pistol if I didn't get the sights lined up properly. Anyway, I was curious.
