Can some one let me know if the Model 39-2 can except this type of ammo without causing damage to the firearm. 9 mm luger I know, it's the addition of the +P I have a concern about.

9mm "+P" is not a SAAMI classification unlike that for .38 Specials.

The M39 is rated safe using all 9x19 Parabellum ammunition except for the known lots of British L7A series 9x19 manufactured by Hirtenberger in Austria for submachinegun use only.

I was giver a box of Cor Bon 9mm Luger+P 115gr JHP just wanted to know of this was safe to use. Thanks for the earlier reply.

I have wondered this as well. I have a 39-2 and 59, but have hesitated using +p or +p+ in them, because of their alloy frames and age. Only jhp I have tried is Federal 9bp. I wouldn't expect anything detonating in my hand, just unnecessary wear.

If you can afford enough to shoot hot ammo to make measurable discernable wear on your Smith auto, you can easily afford to buy two or three new pistols.

Ammo made and packaged in the US and distributed through commercial retail channels is safe to shoot in your modern firearms, whatever its markings and headstamps are. These days, +P and +P+ are marketing terms.

If you really want to sell a lot of ammo at top dollar, simply print "law enforcement only" on the packaging.

I would think it would only be a problem if you only shoot +P ammo all of time, a hundred rounds in a session. I shoot around 5 rounds of Winchester Ranger +P+ in my 459 every 2 or 3 weeks and it hasn't caused any problems.
