9mm shield broke

OP, I hope you handle true adversity in your life better than you handle this broken gun.

It's just a gun. It will get fixed.

Often there are far more important things in our lives that can't be fixed.

Look around you, take stock, and count your blessings. Try it. You will feel better. Believe me, I know.

This is how you do a gripe correctly... Without photo evidence, I don't really give much credence to these threads...

I'm not sure what you're talking about/why you quoted the word "stuff" and tagged me?... As far as I know I haven't even used that word in a post on here... And both of my main posts have photo evidence of the problems I'm referring to. So can you elaborate on what this post was supposed to mean?

Rule one on here, if you have a problem with your new gun, just keep it to yourself, the fan-boys will crucify you. So never say anything and pray it happens to them so they themselves know how you feel.

I have a question of the GLOCK promoters, why are you on this S&W M&P Forum?? I don't have a problem with any other views/opinions, but you could be putting forth the many virtues of the Glock to other Glockers.
As others mentioned... Many gun owners own more than 1 Brand. Heck, I have 2 Glocks... a Gen2 G19 and a Gen4 G26, but I also have an XD Service and an XDM9c, as well as a Ruger MKIII and 10/22, as well as 2 S&W... a 19-3 and the Shield. The Shield is the Only Factory Stock M&P worth owning (IMO). I don't care to buy a pistol that needs an additional trigger kit to make it as good as others out there. Shield specific threads are the only M&P threads I regularly read in this Sub-Forum.

When someone posts a legitimate gripe, I enjoy reading about it to expand my knowledge base, but when people complain about something that they never should have left the LGS with, like Off-Center Sights, Dinged Feed Ramps, Scratched/Dinged Bore, Can't Lock the Slide Back or even get the Slide OFF, or not being able to reassemble it... Shame on them for not trying to rack/lock the slide/Field Strip and do a BASIC inspection of the Firearm BEFORE paying.

At this point in my life, I don't blindly buy a firearm I haven't first rented/borrowed/tried and compared Side-by-Side with its competition.
I also don't put my cash on the counter until I've Field Stripped, Visually Inspected and dry fired a couple times. My LGS even lets me match it up with a holster before buying.

True... Some problems aren't going to show themselves (like the trigger return spring breaking) until a time or two at the range. These are Man-Made machines. Things happen and a few are going to slip through the cracks. Yes, I said a FEW, 'cause we should all know by now, that for every 1 pistol that someone complains about here, there are Several Hundred (to a Thousand or more) that people DON'T join a forum to post about. ;)
How many of these are cranked out per week, as opposed to (how many?) problem posts?
If these little guns were crud, they wouldn't STILL be so hard to get... would they? :)
Sorry for the rant... Just had to get it out. :)

I know it sucks when someone has an issue with their gun but when I read someone that calls it a "clip" when everyone knows the it's call a magazine, makes me wonder if something else is in play here. Have had my Shield for over a year now with about 500 rounds through it and no issues other than my sweat issues that I talked about on another post. S&W will take care of you and that's why we all own S&W, piece of mind.

I thought the same thing when I read, "clip." Of course a broken spring is a legitimate issue.

I've only had my Shield since February and have over 1000 trouble free rounds out of it. It shoots anything and shoots where I aim. I love it.

I waited a year and 3months for this gun. I got it this week on wensday and took it to the range on thrusday and after 50 shots the return spring broke in half, guide rod bent and a broke firing pin. now what the hell s@w ? yes I call as soon as I got home yes they are going to fix it,BUT ITS BRAND NEW. THIS **** SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. THIS IS THE SECOND GUN I HAVE SENT BACK IN A YEAR . I WENT OUT YESTERDAY AND BROUGHT A XDS 9MM AND PUT 100 ROUNDS WITH IT TODAY AND IT WAS AWSUM. I am a s@w fan I have aton of them pistols and rifles, but I am choosing to look else where now. the funny thing of it is the customer rep also told me all the problems about the gun before I could get all the problems told to him. gofigure

Sorry to hear about your Shield, S&W will make it right i'm sure. Mines been running like a champ.

How do you buy a gun the day before and the next day put 100rds through it? Last time I checked there was a wait period.

I thought all States had to comply with the Brady Bill and have a minimum of three days before you could pick up a "legally" purchased gun from a licensed dealer.

That doesn't apply to private sales of used guns or gun shows. So the OP may have bought the guns used.

Not all States have a 3 Day Wait for handguns. TX, for one, does not. Even without a CHL, any TX resident passing the NICS check can buy their handgun and immediately go shoot it.

The 3 day waiting period was in the interim provisions of the Brady Act to allow time to move paperwork between the FFL and local law enforcement and let local law enforcement conduct a background check. That waiting period ceased to exist in federal law after "instant" background checks became available through the NICS database. However, some state laws retained the waiting period.

Federal law still has a slightly different twist on the waiting period; if NICS does not provide a response to the FFL, the sale can proceed after 3 days, even without a background check.

Glock will give you a lifetime guarantee.

Simply not true, S&W however does have a lifetime warranty.

To OP, sounds like you put the gun back together incorrectly, no way the gun would break like that if it was put together correctly. Me nor anyone I know has ever had any issues with Smiths, but best of luck to you with the XD.

Missouri does not have a 3 day wait to the best of my knowledge. I have purchased a new gun at a store and have brought it home that day after the NCIS check. We have also purchased guns from a private seller who has his FFL and again, after running a check on us, we left with the guns. To the best of my knowledge all of our guns have been "legally purchased". I don't know if the 3 day wait period applies to guns bought out of state and shipped to a store... But we have purchased many guns off of GB and have them shipped to a local gun store and picked them up the same day they arrived, after the check of course.
