9mm Shield & CCI Big 4 shotshell

Greetings this question is about CCI Big 4 shotshell and use in my shield. Is it feasible to use this in my shield. Yes i know it will not cycle and a revolver would be a better choice. I am only asking about sparse use in my shield, I would keep the rounds in my 7rd mag as a backup when out hiking. or should i get a 9mm revolver instead.

I'm curious too.
My primary concern would be that the plastic capsule would break open upon contact with the feed ramp in a semi-auto. Those little pellets rattling around loose in your gun would be a bad thing...

Doesn't the box warn against using them (9mm) in a revolver? For sure, the all-metal case .45ACP CCI shotshells used to have that warning. Supposedly the .45's would seize the cylinder after firing - but I never tried them. I have used the 9mm shotshells (older, blue capsule style) as first round up for years in autos. They won't cycle the action of the two pistols I have tried (SW 6906 and Glock 19) but you can hand-eject them and continue shooting ball ammo. All of this being said, I found the patterns from the older rounds pretty disappointing. I picked up two boxes of the new red-capsule .38's - and keep two in each of my 442's - and carry either revolver when I'm walking after dark.

They have changed the design to the picture i posted at the top of the thread and they are big No. 4 lead payload delivers more energy and longer range than conventional handgun shotshells.

I would only recommend shot shells in a semi one at a time. The actions have been know to open up a shot case internally which will render your pistol inop.
I don't know why you can't use a revolver of any caliber.
It probably boils down to the different crimps used.

As of this post I currently do not own an revolves. With the rarity of my actually using the Shotshell spending the $$$ on a revolver just for a single purpose use is not a cost effective buy. At most I would only have a Mag with a few rounds in it.

CCI / Speer is a great ammo Company and I'm sure they tested them enough to know they will feed without falling apart.

Depending on the individual Pistol, they might or might not cycle - try them. I have tried them in .45 ACP and they did NOT cycle.

I've never been impressed with handgun shot shells (not talking about .410 Ga.) and unless you are pretty close to your target they are not all that effective. YES, they will dispatch a Snake at 5 feet or take a mouse at about that distance, but personally I'd not rely on them for much else.
