These little birds don't get a lot of love.

No they don't, a friend's Father was lead on the A-7 design,, he worked under the lead on the F-8 Crusader and then went on to design the A-7, the "Gunfighter",, such a neat airplane, and one of the safest airplanes in the inventory, both USAF and Navy.. his Dad's name was Lee Head,, he was a Navy Captain in WWII.

Always liked the A-7. I was stationed at Korat AFB with four tankers and had to move out to make room for the A-7s from Myrtle Beach AFB. 1972. Still, the F-105 remains my fav.

Handled scores of A-7s in the control tower at Nellis AFB, Nevada.
The last ones we had were the last active duty A-7 unit in the Air
Force. Even had a two-seater -- odd looking little thing.

Talked to lots of Navy A-7s and F-8s, too.

The last ones I worked were the Oklahoma Air Guard (Tulsa) guys
on a two-week exercise at RAF Waddington in Lincoln, England (~'91).
