Some of them, especially 6 1/2" barrel model are rare here in Italy.

Due to our restricted laws about weapons, I could only test the 8 3/8" model ... absolutely fantastic.

I don't think I can live in weapons restricted countries. I love my guns too much!

Italian 44 Mags

Bizio, thanks for posting pics of your 44 Mags. You've got a nice collection which I understand was no easy task. We Americans worry all the time about our 2nd Amendment rights, (US Constitution grants all Americans the right to bear arms) and rightfully so, and my hat is off to you guys in countries where collecting any type of handgun is next to impossible.
Regards
Chuck

It's my pleasure, Chuck.

Yes, life for handguns collectors is not easy here ... and we are all paying the price with even more severe rules because of bad behavior of few people who are caught violating existing laws.

I too salute you, on a fine collection of beautiful guns sir!

Just remember, no gun law is designed to curb bad behavior of the people, but rather to grant more control to the government. Always.:(

Hi Gun 4 Fun,
that's true ... you're perfectly right ...

yup, they violate one law so make another. They won't violate that.

Nice bunch of guns!

Momma Mia , thatsa a nice collection for any where, but could that be the nicest private set in Italy?
I want to collect all the old Ducati scramblers over here so I understand.

Just bought it today ... S&W 29-3 10 5/8" .44Mag 'Silhouette' (1987)

I have had my Silhouette model for a couple of weeks now and really like it. I went to the range Thursday and was pleased to see the velocity that long barrel can produce with a moderate handload of 19.0 grains of 2400 and a cast 240 grain SWC: 1400 fps. I went up to 21.0 grains in .5 grain increments and topped out at 1576 fps. I can get along fine with the 19.0 grain load but, if needed, the potential is there.

I think you will enjoy it.

Hi cjw3,

which distance do you shoot with your Silhouette ?
I heard it is recomended for at least 50 yards, better 100 yards.
Do you shoot holding gun with two hands or do you use a rest or a sand bag ?
I have no experience with a such long barrel gun.

This is my first one with a barrel this long, too. After getting some idea where it was hitting the other day off the bench at 25 yards, I tried it out offhand, with two hands, at some dirt clods on the backstop at around 60 yards. It is just too heavy and the sight notch is too narrow for me to use it one handed, but I have other S&W's that are fine for that.

When I got it, the rear sight was bottomed out and it did not appear that any of the front sight pins had been set. I raised the rear sight to about what I have on my other S&W's and adjusted pin #1 to bring the adjustable section of the front sight level with the "cradle" it rides in. That put my loads at about 2" above point of aim at 25 yards.

I might do a little deer/hog hunting with it and doubt I would try a shot over 75 yards, but I will need to shoot it a lot more to get a better idea of what I'm getting at that distance or maybe a little further. I don't have any place convenient to try it at longer range, but may have to look into that just to see what it will do.

Understood, I have same problem here, no range over 50 yards in my town.
Thanks, cjw3.
