A brace of pre 18 CM

Having a 17-3 and shooting god knows how many thousands of rounds. Has always left me longing for a K22 and a an 18. Well I solved both issues over the last year twice. The first is a 1953 K22 CM. It got it in a trade for a speed six. The k22 was painted in spots with black enamel paint to touch up the wear. With a little elbow grease it cleaned up nicely. Curt repaired the grips. The other is a 1949 K22 CM This was a lowball bid on an auction. It had a pair of beat magnas that are from a later era. The pictures weren't good and the gun was filthy. Again more elbow grease and some grips from the grip box.

A quick trip to the range for some 15 yard speed drills. Has left me very pleased with my new acquisitions. I did notice that the 49 does not have the quick draw sight.

Nice K22 Combat Masterpieces.

The 1949 is especially interesting as the earliest examples had the same front site as the 6" but factory built 4" guns.

Sometimes an owner had a 6" barrel shortened.

Do you mind sharing the serial number on the older one as the pre production runs are documented.

Iirc the 4" first appeared in the 1950 AMC as a regular model but the earliest examples were in either 48 or 49.

The serial number on the 49 is k75238. Roy said it shipped November 1949. The front sight is one of the reasons I was interested in it. It looked pretty beat in the pictures but cleaned up well. It has zero corrosion just a-lot of bluing wear. So well used but well cared for. The grim was mostly shellacked oil.
