A budding young welder

I recently read the obit of a retired gentleman I knew and was surprised he had a Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering from Ohio State. He went on to have an impressive career and was considered one of the foremost titanium metal experts in the world!

Welding + college can be a great thing!

When I was at OSU, Welding Engineering was the smallest of the College of Engineering disciplines. I remember at that time, Lincoln Electric had a standing offer to hire every member of every graduating class. Maybe they still do. I have no idea what the OSU Welding Engineering program looks like today. It is probably much larger. When I was there, there were only two universities in the world offering Welding Engineering degree programs - Ohio State and some university in Japan. There are probably more than that today, but not in the US. OSU is it. The OSU WE program also has MS and PhD degree tracks.

Logan needs to enroll in a good, accredited welding and related trades school, 2 year program. Also learn CNC machine equipment programming.

If he does not have a problem being hot and dirty at work, he can make lots of money without having a massive college student loan to deal with.
Most good trade schools have a 90% job placement rate with their students by the day of graduation.

Take a look at Massachusetts Maritine Academy for Logan. With a degree from here he will easily succeed in any venture he may wish to embrace.

As I mentioned above, he is set on the 2 year program at Butler Tech. It is a good school.

Logan isn't afraid to get dirty and sweaty. From late spring up to now he works every other weekend in Columbus with his BIL doing yard work with a Spartan zero turn. They average 60 yards per weekend and make bank.

He is as "anti lazy" and "roll up his sleeves" as one could get.

I just ordered a pair of 5 pound dry chemical fire extinguishers for the shed.

Watching Logan it is like Christmas around here.

Good to hear that.
He is the kind of young people we need more of.
Must have had good parents and other mentors.

More offered assistance.

A neighbor in his 30's who is a welder for AK Steel heard about Logan's plan to be a welder/fabricator and said he can guide Logan on his free time.

That makes three certified welders that live on my block that want to help him.

We are so glad we moved here 13 months ago.
