A challenge

As some of you may have read I had my beloved 4013 single stack at a gunsmith who scratched the **** out if my slide doing a sight replacement. I have talked to smith and Wesson and they do not have any replacement slides and have dubbed it an obsolete part, and even have a hold on any barrel and slide orders. The gunsmith agreed to replace the slide but don't matter if one don't exist!

Here's the challenge, can you guys find me a 4013 single stack stainless slide with night sights? There it is, challenge out there!

I'd still like to see some picture details of the damage that goof did to your slide. The reason I ask is I have a spare 4013 slide assembly in my bin I've been saving for another project. If the damage to your is something I think I can fix I may be willing to trade uppers with you. Uppers meaning slide assembly & barrel since the barrels are fitted to each slide individually. I would attend to swapping the sights as well. Let me know

Yikes what a hack job, and he mangled the front sight too. Those sights should never be pounded on. They aren't hardened and are softer than the punch and as you can see deform easily.
Lucky he didn't snap the blade off. Judging from the marks on the flat, I guess padded vise jaws are optional at this fellas bench too.

Did he mangle the new backsight as well?

The length of the barrel hood is important to insure the locking lugs mate smoothly & correctly with the mating recess in the slide. Most barrels will be a simple drop in however there may be some irregularity that requires some fitting. There's no guaranty that your barrel will fit my slide and vice-versa. While I have no problem making some minor fitting adjustments, it's just best to keep the slides with the barrels that were originally fitted to them at the factory.

I don't know what you plans are for dealing with the alleged "smith" but were I in your place I'd demand full refund plus replacement part for damaged front H3 sight. He would not get any opportunity to fix anything as he would never lay hands on any arm of mine again. The old adage of "fool me once, shame on me - fool me twice shame on you" applies IMO.

Anyway, I'm confident I can make that pretty again so if you're game to work something out shoot me PM.
