Here are a couple of my favorite shooters...definitely not safe queens. A model 64 that I picked up very cheap because of lockup problems. I replaced the cylinder stop and she now functions beautifully. The other one is my model 60 Frankengun. It has been updated with a 3" barrel and adjustable sights.

Welcome to the forum.

You made the 60 into something S&W hasn’t made. The closest equivalent might be a 60-4 but they were full lug therefore heavier. I’m surprised you were able to find the 3” barrel. Most of the fixed sight barrels were standard or lighter weight. I only remember barrels like yours on fixed sighted square butt 60 .38s. There were not a lot of those. Perhaps inability to sell those drove S&W to sell left over barrels to parts suppliers. Did you have a local gunsmith do the work and what did it cost?

I did not do the work or have it done. I just got "lucky" and found it in the display case at my favorite LGS a few years ago. I have always wanted a 3" model 60, but didn't want to give up the arm and leg that most want for an original, so when I saw this, I jumped on it for less than $400 OTD. Whoever did the work did a great job, and it is a fantastic shooting gun.

Little things like wrong placement can be brought to the moderators attention by clicking on the red ! in the upper right corner of every reply box. I just did that for you with the message, "The revolvers being discussed belong in the most modern sub-forum." I never thought about doing it for oneself, but it probably works.

Nice hot yo have shooters. I shoot my 19 I carried for years even though still looks great and a 686-1 with no box and 2.5 686. I love firing a hot 125 SJHP. Feel it's exilirating not painful like a 44 mag.

Welcome to the FORUM! In the wrong section, don't sweat it!
I am into shooter grade guns, & shooting. Of course I like the shooters to be as clean & nice as possible. You have a couple of good shooters there. Enjoy them! Bob
