This house is between Newport and Depot Bay in Oregon. I saw it from Otter Crest Loop which is a scenic route that is one lane and runs south.

It sits roughly 300 or more feet above the ocean.

Oh man, that's what I'm talking about; beautiful... I might even give up all of my Smiths for that one! I'm from New England, and it reminds me of a few dream houses of my own...

+1000!Newport Or.is beautiful.Go to the downtown. The house is great also as well as the Pacific ocean.I live 100 miles from the ocean.

Thanks all.

I grew up in the Willamette Valley and spent alot of time on the Central Oregon coast as my grandfather owned a cabin that is located seven miles south of Yachats (it is owned by my aunt now). The cabin has been in the family since the early 1960s and was built in the late 1880s.

I don't recall seeing the house pictured before, however I know I must have as it is at least 50 years old (judging by the type of construction and the shape of the house and the age of any surrounding houses/cabins).

Incredible. You are 1/2 mile North of my secretest place in the whole world. I grew up in Toledo and we hung out on Otter Crest Loop all during my wonder years. (A wonder I lived through them). Otter Crest is a massive rocky headland that meets the ocean with spectacular cliffs and black gravel beaches. There are a couple spouting horns near this house just south that we used to wait for a good high (???) tide and dangle our feet over the edge and the big ocean swells would pound the rocks and shake the whole world. An incredible piece of the Oregon Coast. A very good place to whale watch also. I saw a big Grey whale w/ a calf near here one time. Unbelievable. I have taken my kids to this place and I highly recommend all travelers on the Central Oregon Coast to take the "Otter Crest Loop". A very special road. I believe it is now one-way from the North end to South.

I guess a feller could pop off a round of two off his front porch on New Year's Eve without much problem.

That's plumb beautiful.

Right now it appears from the photo to be listing about 10 degrees to port. You'd want to fix that..... :)
