A little modification you may like.

I haven't taken my mag release off my shield or used a magnet to test it but when I tried to stipple it I couldn't get it done.

There is metal inside the magazine for the spring. The outside is polymer. You should be able to use a soldering iron on it. Unless yours didn't get hot enough.

My Shield magazine release is steel.

Just looked closely at mine and the part of the mag release that makes contact with the mag inside the mag well appears to be metal and a magnet does stick to the outside portion of the release you press with your thumb. Never gave it much thought as it appears to be polymer at first glance...

The mag release button on my Shield certainly does appear to be steel. A magnet sticks to it very readily. Mine is fairly new, I bought it a week ago. Maybe they changed them to steel now.

Just look at my post yesterday "shield for lefty's" and you will see it is steel. It took quite a bit of grinding with my belt sander to get the results pictured. I like the polished look but you could dye the button to make it look like the rest of the frame. Mine was purchased over a year ago. Hope this helps.

I was able to do this to it

It was hot!!!!

Here you go again. I'm simply stating they were generous to give people small parts. That's it. I don't know what your problem is, but I'm dropping out of this ridiculous exchange you've instigated. Please have a great day and try and be possitive throught it. God bless.

I think someone has a burr under their saddle! If you all think about it a bit, it is often cheaper for a merchant to just give you a $2 product than to put it through their accounting system.

I don't know what the current figure is but many years ago, purchasing professionals figured that it cost a company $75 to cut and process purchase order. So, from a buying side, a 2$ purchase really costs the company $77. The same relationship likely exists going the other direction. Many companies I dealt with had a minimum order amount that they would accept for just that reason.

Not sure what sort of incompetent company has a $75 cost to pick an order. I guess instead of vilifying vendors for having $6 shipping on a $10 item we should hail them as philanthropists.
That number is plainly ridiculous.
No question that the mag release on my Shield is steel, not polymer. Sounds weird, but I tongue-tested it. Took it out of my spare bedroom (which is unheated and currently about 45 degrees. I can plainly feel the cold metal on my tongue. Slide-cold, grip-warm, mag base-warm, Mag release-cold.
-13 here in Minnesota, so don't put your tongue on the flagpole.

Man, people relax. So many people on the internet hang on every word and look for a chance to pounce on another, to call another guy out and try to make him feel stupid. Good thing these silly debates don't happen at the gun range in person with live ammo. We have more in common than we have differences.
