I appreciate the lesson and agree with D C Wilson.I don't think I have ever turned down any gift large or small, and have to explain to my wife that to do so would be a great offense to the giver.I have had several firearms given me through the years by my patients.
The most memorable was from a little elderly lady who never came to my office unless dressed to the nines with her silver gray hair recently styled. It seems her late husband had a 12 Ga. pump with 32 inch barrel she wanted to give me.As all 4'11" of her carried the extremely long shotgun across the parking lot some one called out "where are you going with that big gun little lady?"She naturally replied "to my doctor!"He returned with "whatcha' gonna do-shoot him".
She could hardly contain herself laughing when she walked in my waiting room full of patients.
I was blessed with many wonderful patients in 43 years of medical practice. And they were never surprised to see another patient come in with fish, cakes ,preserves, mounted deer heads, and yes even guns.I miss them dearly.
