There's a 4014 around for what seems to be an attractive price. I keep toying with getting it; then look at the Preformance Center, ported, 2.0 .45 Shield in the drawer and think about the .45 Chiefs Special in the safe and the 4513TSW BMCM worked on and ask myself, Why?

Yeah, I let a 4013 go a year or three ago and regret it; but I think I have bigger-bullet carry pieces pretty well (too well?) covered.

It's fun finding good guns at good prices...but I gotta say I suspect there's better ways to spend $$$. Probably gonna send a new-to-me Sig 2022 off the Sig shop for their $150 special rebhab/nite sights special. Wish S&W had a similar program.

4014’s are fun to turn into 1014’s. 10mm out of a compact single stack 3rd gen will put a smile on your face!

Sounds like it's "speaking" to you, IMO.

Last spring I found a hardly fired, with 2 mags (no box) excellent condition 4014 at a shop during my job travels which I initially passed on. I thought about it nearly every day for almost 3 months when my travels brought me to the same shop and, luckily, they still had it. I got it for $460 OTD and couldn't be happier.

Did I need it? Heck no! But I have evolved into a collector or S&W's, especially semi-autos, the past couple years and have especially become fond of the .40 and .45's.

It seems the 4014 is somewhat of a unicorn according to the SCSW 4th edition, and am anxious to see what the upcoming 5th edition says about them. They're not making them anymore and it sounds like you're Jonesing for it. My vote is don't let it pass you by like you did that 4013 and grab it while you still can.

Right on RJM...I too "collect" Smith semi autos and I can hear its sweet song.

But....how much work (and $$$) is it to "transform" it into a 10mm? I've always wanted one but price usually stood in the way. This might not be that much cheaper, but I like projects.

Hopefully someone will come along with .40 to 10mm transformation info, as I am interested in too!

All the information needed for a .40 to 10mm conversion can be obtained right here by contacting our own BMCM. Excellent work!

I was a forty caliber "denier" constantly passing over good 40 guns at great prices. I have 9mm and 45 ACP, who needs 40 caliber. Finally I saw mint CHP 4006 TSW's being sold for stupid low prices. Time to leap. I bought one and have enjoyed shooting it since almost every range trip, and stock up on 40 caliber rounds with the 9mm and 45 ACP. Several other folks who shot mine went and bought their own 4006 afterwards. You will pick up a 40 caliber somewhere down the road. Enjoy when you do.

I absolutely have to agree

This is my oldest 1014. It must be 13 or 14 years ago when I did the conversion to it.

I enjoyed it so much that I went out and found myself a 4013 to convert so I could have a pair

Obviously the barrel's chamber needs to be lengthened to 10MM dimensions. A change in the recoil spring is also necessary. Then the spacer at the back of the magazines has to be drilled out and the edges of the holes cleaned up so that the follower is not hindered in its movement

That is really all that is essential to do the conversion

Some folks add a frame buffer to better preserve the alloy frame

If you're not carrying the pistol that BMCM worked on, then I doubt you will carry this one. It won't be in the way of anything sitting in the safe.

What do you actually carry every day?
Kind Regards
