The End!
Well, time to close out this thread.

Thanks to all who participated... even those members who ignored the rules.

It was a good discussion, or at least it was for me anyway.

Now I know what the "team" sees as good alternatives with the clear winner being small-frame snubby up to mid-frame revolvers!

Metal rules!!!
I must admit that I didn't expect that just because I figured that all the members of "Team 3rd Gen" already had plenty of revolvers!

And I was betting "pre-IL" too.

Clearly, I was wrong.
I expected plenty of love for Sigs.

and it did come, but it tended to come late in the thread all at once?

I wonder why so late?
Definitely some mixed feelings on 1911 variants, pro and con.

I thought for sure 1911's would be the big winner here.

Shows how wrong I was again.
The most remarkable thing was the lack of love for modern plastic wonder guns with very few notable exceptions.

And yet most of my handful of available choices for October's new handgun "incentivized" buy are... (
you guessed it)... modern plastic wonder guns.
So what to do???
Punt maybe?
While there are several revolver possibilities, they are all "IL" and that turns me off faster than a speech by Dear Leader.

Even then, I asked about a new Model 617... but it is not available.

Besides, I've got more than enough revolvers... even single-actions.
The only new Sigs available to me in my poor man's price range are P250's or the little P238's... neither of which do much for me.

I could do a brand new P226, but there would be no real incentive to do that.

I'd be much better off waiting and doing used.

The P220 and the SP2022 are not available.
I could do a new Ruger SR1911 I suppose. That's probably my best choice in an all metal pistol among the very limited selection available. It doesn't thrill me, but it
was once on my Want List before I learned of certain alleged corrosion problems.
Then come the S&W M&P's.

I'd have my choice of a full-size M&P45 or a full-size M&P9 range kit. Both would likely require an Apex kit to fix the awful MA-compliant trigger.
There are a handful of other options but nothing that I'm really lusting for or don't already have.
So, in conclusion, it might be best just to punt and "
keep on keeping on" with my beloved 3rd Gens... albeit at a more expensive and somewhat reduced pace.

A little disappointing, but true.
