A Question For Those With Night Sights On The Shield

What site tool is in the picture? I don't want to damage my slide or original site.

If you look at the pic you will see that it is an MGW sight tool made specifically for the M&P Shield Pistols. I got mine directly from Ameriglo Sights webpage when I purchased the front sight.

Take Care,

That is the very reason I did my shield like this, see pic's. Front night sight (same height as stock) change only easy to see and very reflective. This set up worked great with stock rear sight. Ameriglo front sight only for Shield paid $55.00 on there sight and installed it myself.

Thanks Bill, I was thinking of doing basically the same thing. Leave the stock rear and replace the front sight with a night sight. How does it look at night/low light conditions? Can you still get a good sight picture without having the rear two dots illuminated?

Thank you,
Tom

I have factory night sights on my 40c and have found I haven't used them once .. I have yet to fire my weapon at night where the night sights would be used .. so are they good or bad is really hard to tell without any usage .. wish my range had no light or dim light shooting so practice could be done using them buy they don't. I guess I could shoot here on my property at night but I just haven't done it ..

I have dry fire practiced with them in a darkened room .. with only front sights being night sights your not able to see the rear sights so don't see how you could be very accurate with only the front re-sighted ..

I doubt if I will have night sights on my next new buy .. the cost is hard to justify when you don't use them ..

Has anyone used their night sights in the dark ??

In training.
It wasn't pitch black but was dark but just enough light to see the target.
They were helpful to me. After that I was sold. To me they help during darker conditions and don't hurt in light conditions. The only downside is cost. I have factory night sights on my M&P pro 9 and 9c. On my 9c the difference in cost was only $57 to get the factory installed ones.
