My LGS has a .38 hand ejector. Looks like a model 10 but no model. Four digit S/N with a C prefix. S/N is C 92xx. I was looking for more info. Would anyone be able to assist with approximate date of manufacture?
What I see in the SCSW is it looks like the C prefix started in 1948 and goes to 1967 .

Looks like a nice gun. Aftermarket stocks. Bore is good, timing appears ok.

C9200 would indicate production in 1948.

C1 was produced on March 22, 1948. Serial numbers reached to about C44000 by the end of the year 1948.

It is a .38 Military & Police model. In about 1958, this model would become the Model 10.

Well, we can narrow it down. The memo went out in 1957 to have Model numbers stamped in the yoke cut. It took a while to implement that memo so I would guess pre 1958. If you need a more specific date, request a letter of authentication.

Even with the after market stocks, it looks like a good find to me.
