Many of you probably have one or more of these iconic rifles. The Remington 700 is the de facto standard police counter-sniper rifle (90% by most estimates). It's been around since 1962, and is in use by the Marines as the M40 and the Army as the M24. The newest Army rifle based on this action is the XM2010 which has a modular black pistol grip stock. It can be equipped with advanced optics and a sound suppressor. Sporting versions have seen wide popularity since the early '60s.
To start the ball rolling, here is one of mine. It's a police/tactical model in .308 Winchester. It has a 26" heavy bull barrel with a 1 in 12" twist. The stock is the factory-equipped H-S Precision fiberglass model, free-floating the barrel, and set up with a central rail and mounting posts. I call this one my "flea flicker" as I'm sure it will flick a flea off a dog's butt at 100 yards if called upon to do so. This one is equipped with a Burris 6.5x20x50mm Fullfield II scope with a ranging reticle in quick-detachable mounts. It also has a stock pack containing range tables and a shooting log with an attachment for spare rounds. It accepts a bipod.
I'm in the process of writing an article on these rifles for future publication in Dillon's Blue Press, and I thought I'd share the picture that will be used.
