Fred (old bear) called me and asked if I would contact the forum for him as the internet in his community has been out for over 3 days with no close estimation of when it will return.

For over 6 weeks Fred has been waylaid by sciatica. Today has been the most severe attack to date. He is almost incapacitated with pain. He is contacting Duke Medical to be seen as soon as possible as his pain is constant and off the scale.

He asked that you folks offer a prayer or a kind thought with his name on it.

He will check in with us when he regains access.

Fred and I both thank you.

Heavy prayer up for a complete and speedy recovery... to continue for as long as needed. When you talk to Fred be sure and tell him that all of his friends here are thinking of him.

I’ve never experienced sciatic pain that bad like Fred is having, but the light cases I’ve had have been very painful. I hope Fred can get some help and some relief from the bad pain he’s having so things can return to some sort of normalcy for him.

He has my prayers. Hopefully they will give him a Toradol shot for immediate albeit temporary relief. I underwent surgery 16 mos ago for a back/sciatic condition. It’s a tough row to hoe.

That’s some painful stuff. They fixed mine with a laminectomy operation and actually fixed it. The other back pain they can’t fix, but that operation worked. Hurt like all heck for a few days after but he fixed it.
Good luck to old bear. I hope the orthopedic surgeon can help him. That was the closest pain to kidney stones I ever had. Thanks for the heads up.

I feel for anyone with sciatica and/or severe back pain. I had problems with sciatica back in 2006, and it almost sidelined me. At the beginning of May I had the TLIF surgery to fuse the L4 and L5 disks, after having severe back pain beginning back in mid-February, which did pretty much sideline me. My prayers have been sent for Fred and all his loved ones, and for all the medical personel involved with this, and that Fred will have healing and a positive path forward.

Yannow Rusty, there's Moderators on this forum, but I think there should be another official title added - something like Ex Officio Minister and Good Will Ambassador Emeritus.
That'd be you for the good will you spread around here, especially for folks down on their luck for one reason or another.
Nice job here once again! Thanks for your kindness.
