When a customer ordered a Baughman Ramp front sight was the standard sight provided a King ? I know that King sights were optional. Or could that have been installed when the engraving was done ?
Below is pictured the standard Baughman front sight as it was supplied on all 473 of the 4” KCPD Pre-War .357 Magnums; or more specifically it is the Baughman Quick Draw front sight blade on a plain (as opposed to reflector) King ramp base. Only the plain ramp base is marked “King”. The blade is unmarked.
Excellent information Mr. Lester. So it is safe to assume that prior to S&W shipping their revolvers with their in house Baughman ramp front sights (starting with the Combat Masterpiece in the early 1950's ?) that any gun ordered with that type of sight would utilize a King's base and ramp ?
Does anyone have a gun that letters noting that the sight was a King's ?
