Mario-

That's suitably lazy, all right. :) But one can add mustard or pour Italian salad dressing on the tuna.

Not if you openned a can of "Atum assado a Algarvia" or "Atum de Caldeirada" they already come with their own sauce. :D

Even plain tuna in olive oil only needs a little vinegar for me.

Yep. I'm lazy.:D

I think your tuna offerings may be more varied than in the USA. But I'll note that Atum means Tuna in Portuguese.

Tuna here comes in round cans. That includes albacore, which I avoid due to high mercury content.

Swordfish also has too much mercury, but I haven't seen it on menus here in some time.

Texas Star the problem with the tuna here is that, by the time you drain off all the water, there's just a thin layer of fish mush in the bottom. I haven't bought tuna for a couple of years after getting burned by Starkist. I pick up the cans and gently shake them...if I hear sloshing sounds...I put it down. I'm going to try the brand Kurusu suggested. We have an international grocery here and I'm pretty sure they stock all the different brands of canned fish from Portugal and Spain. Probably better quality than the domestic stuff.

If you are looking for plain tuna in oil. Try to find this brand.

Kurusu how much does that product cost in your local currency? I'm curious how it compares to the prices we pay here in the States. Thanks.

I eat a fair amount of tuna.
Prefer the pouch.

Not too expensive I see. Where I live, it seems every food item has become ridiculously expensive in the last few years. What is worse, the manufacturers keep shrinking the weights and amounts while retaining or even increasing the price. I bought a can of beans recently and after I drained the water out, the can was only half full of beans. I bought a very large bag of tortilla chips also...and after I opened I realized it had been inflated with air and was only half full. IDK how people can afford to eat these days.

If you're trying eat high protein low carb, here's a tasty snack: 8 ounces fat free greek yogurt, 25 grams of chocolate or strawberry whey protein powder. Mix it thoroughly, and it becomes like a chocolate pudding/mouse. gives about 60 grams of high quality protein (plenty of BCAA's), with minimal carbs and fat.

Average income in Portugal is not very high either, you have to remember that.
