This forum sure is a strange place ! I've offered a seller a price for his ammo, and gotten absolutely no response! (Yes, no, maybe, sorry, go away, etc.) I've accepted a seller's price for a pair of grips, and gotten absolutely no response also! What sort of people are we dealing with here???? People that have been thrown off GunBroker ? What's going on ??? BT

You can check the feedback section before making deals? That to me would be semi-useful or what can go on is a "Good Guy/Bad Guy" section like former car forums Ive been part of have. I know the last thing you want to see is that, but you do have those kind of folks everywhere unfortunately. Also, you have not so frequent poster or email checkers..... Who knows. Sorry to hear youre unsatisfied... Im sure something can be worked out...

Lets keep in mind, Sometimes our "SPAM" filters will pick up incoming emails and toss them aside,,,, Some will be deleted after 24 hours in the SPAM folder.
On my Verizon account, Some come through, Some dont, And I dont know why,,,,,
So try not to be too disappointed, It may be as simple as this.
I rarely have time, or think to remember to go there on my pc.

If you are using a free email account (yahoo, gmail, etc) or AOL email, odds are your emails are getting filtered and not seen.

If you posted an "I'll take it" followed by an e-mail to the seller, you've done all you can do.

Don't be in too much of a rush. Most sellers in the Classifieds are not professional merchants. It's just something they do in addition to their job, yard work, little emergencies that crop up, etc. IE, low priority. They may be a few days getting back to you.

At least you haven't sent any money yet. That's when things can really get dicey. I have been burned several times, the worst being a guy who kept my money and never sent anything. It's a good idea to check how many posts the guy has. IE, is he a regular, long-time memeber or someone who just joined to sell some stuff? Then you balance the risk vs. the reward. Do I really want this at that price enough to take a chance?

One word to the wise:
It's better not to be too quick about complaining or asking "What kind of Forum is this?" especially when you're a fairly new member. Given in the spirit of friendly advice.

I share Buckawho's lament. I've lost count over the years of the number of times I've offered to purchase an item on the internet or inquired for more information and got NO responce.

Sorry in my opinion it's just plain rude behavoir and there is little excuse. Just how hard and time consuming is it to hit reply and say "sorry, it's already sold". And if you're going to post something for sale on an internet discussion board, I think it's the seller's responcibility not to use excessively aggressive email filters. Don't you think? It's about the modern equivilent of putting an ad in the daily newspaper then taking your phone off the hook.

BUCKAWHO,
You are painting with an awful broad brush here, we don't have any idea of what your offer was, some sellers will not respond if an offer is unrealistic. As for your acceptance, have you given the seller time to respond?
As mentioned above, some folks don't look at their ads daily (it bothers me too, but it happens), but I wouldn't paint all our members in the same category based on a couple instances.
If you are having a chronic issue with an individual, you are welcome to send an email to the forum admin address with details and we can attempt to assist.

To date, I have not experienced Buck's problem here on this forum. All my transactions have been excellent. A friend of mine did run into a case where he made an "I'll Take it" deal with a guy only to be told that the seller would not ship the gun for nearly a month. That is no good.

The problem is not peculiar to this site. It happens on every forumn I've ever been to that has a Classifieds section.

I had it happen here that I gave away a pretty desirable book as one of them Karma things. It was about five months before I was able to get the winner to acknowledge that he had won. It was a crazy kind of frustrating.

The simple solution is just to resolve not to buy or sell. I don't have time for such things and don't respond well to that kind of stress, so I just stay out of that business. There sure has been a fair amount of really nice stuff down in that For Sale section lately, though.

I guess I'm just lucky , but everyone here has been a gentleman or a lady about it . I have shipped at least 30 grips or scopes the day they say they will take it and have never been stiffed . I have always received my $ timely .
This is the only forum that I can say that about .
Dont give up on us , this a good bunch of folks with a lot of helpful info .

These posts covered it. If you want something, tell them "I'll take it" follow up with an e-mail.

If they say they want it, check your junk mail.

Unfortunately some people ARE just boobs.

I wouldn't say it quite like that, but some people are just busy and take their time, and others, well, ... they're just a little odd. You have to take them as they come.

Once I sent a guy the money and a few days later he e-mailed me he got it that Friday night. He said he would not be able to ship for a week or two as he was going out of town on business, and would not have time to run to the PO Saturday morning. I guess he thought that I could just damn well wait.

Note that if he had said something earlier, I could have sent the PMO next day delivery or whatever. I had no idea that a day, one way or the other, meant anything.

On the plus side, when it did arrive, it was as advertised, so I just figured "all's well that ends well."

Another time (this one was really irritating) a guy posted a bunch of stocks for sale. His only rule was "The first 'I'll take it' gets it". Well, I posted the first "I'll take it" for one set, and I was really happy as I wanted them for a particular revolver which was currently wearing Pachs. Of course, I sent a follow-up e-mail. A day or two later, the dude sends me an e-mail profusely appologizing, telling me someone else spoke first on another forum. Note that he had said nothing about listing them on multiple forums either before or after in his ad on the S&W Forum. Oh well...

My very first purchase here has turned into an endless frustration, BUT, none of the problems were caused by the forum member. I made an offer, it was accepted, and I sent the asked for Money order, was told when it arrived, and the seller took the merchandise to his FFL dealer for shipment to mine. Two packages, and UPS shipped the one containing a pistol via ground transportation, instead of overnight / air, like paid for. It did arrive, and was everything I could have expected and maybe even more. HOwever, the second parcel was tracked into and out of several transfer terminals, then seemed to dissapear. Naturally UPS will not talk to me, just the shipping FFL, and so far I know nothing except I don't have what I paid for. Like previously stated, the seller did what he said he was going to do, but neither of us have been able to get his FFL to come up with any information, as well as replacement for the lost articles. UPS said they will settle the claim with him, so I have to wait, and wait.

Hi Folks....Still no reply on the offer....it's way below the asking! The "I'll take it" has a reply, several emails, and is moving along nicely. Maybe I was expecting more than I should have.... I guess a little patience would help. But some sellers sell ten things in ten minutes ! The "good stuff" leaves in a hurry ! BT

If I had something to sell and someone offered me less and 1/2 of what I was asking for it,as you are, I would probably not dignify it with a response either. He says, "reasonable offers cheerfully considered." Your offer is not likely in his eyes considered reasonable. If I was going to offer a very lowball offer, I would send it via e-mail.

Bill
