So the more I read threads about problems, mishaps, and the rare Kabooms, the more I see people that read them and post about how it turns them away from the Shield because of these events. I was thinking it might be a good idea to get everyone that has a Shield, either in 9 or 40, that has never had an issue with theirs to post here about it to show how many reliable ones there is out there. We all know, and a lot of us post about it in the "mishap" threads, that when someone has a problem they're gonna post about it, but if you don't have a problem why say anything? So what do you guys think? Think it'd be a good idea to post here about how good yours is, and a round count to show that the ratio of flawless ones vs not there is to help anyone looking but hasn't decided yet on the Shield? If so let's keep this thread STRICTLY to flawless ones and rnd counts so anyone can look at the number of posts and see there's that many people happy with theirs.

Well I have 2. A 9, and 40. The 9 is about 2 years old, about 2000 rds and flawless. The 40 is about 18 months, IIRC, and around 2400 rounds. Couldn't be happier with either.

Great idea. Usually only the people having a problem bother posting. This can give the incorrect idea that a product is trouble prone when it isn't.
For the record, my 40 Shield has so far been perfect, with no problems whatsoever. To date I only have 2-300 rounds through it, but I have experienced no failures of any kind. Great little gun.

Its the nature of the forums. People join to either bitch and trash talk a gun or need quick info how to correct a problem. Having a "my gun is perfect" thread is a positive and encouraging idea to new or prospective buyers.

All my S&W handguns have been perfect. This includes a Bodyguard 380, Shield 9mm and many revolvers over the years. I am not a S&W fanboy but I am a fan of quality, dependability, and good design so there may be some common theme in what I buy. FYI...I purchased my Shield to replace the chubby thick G26.

Early on my wife has a couple of limp wrist caused failure to feeds, but her Shield 9 has 400 rounds now with no other issues. She corrected her grip.

Mine has 2-300 flawless rounds through it. Only problem I have is my groups, or lack of. I'm sure they will improve with practice though.
I plan to add another m&p by the end of the year.

Mine is pretty new and i only have 100 or so rounds through it but no issues at all, i really like the gun. it's a 40.

Mine has been fine (9 mm), outside of a few fte's which were likely break-in ones. After 300 rounds, I've had no problems. Well over 600 rounds now.

I got my Shield back in May '12 (before they got popular and prices skyrocketed) and have been carrying since June '12.

I have well over 6K rounds through it and while I have had a couple Ammo (and User) related FTF/FTX issues, I haven't had any pistol/mechanical issues.

New 9mm Shield owner here (purchased NIB late December 2013).
Two failures to eject in the first 100 rounds (Win. white box).
Since then, another 250 rounds of assorted FMJ/JHP with zero issues of any type. I even tried limp-writing and firing the weapon inverted; still no malfs of any type.

I purchased a 40 Shield. After a complete field strip, cleaning, inspection, it went to the range. 100 rds of my 155 Gold Dot reloads, 20 Hornady Critical Defense, 20 Fed 135 Hydra Shok, 20 Speer Gold Dot 180. All 160 rds fed flawlessly. I will upgrade the sights to Ameriglo and carry daily. This gun is a winner for me.

My Sheild 9 has been good to go, although not may rounds so far. Great carry ease and i like the safety.

Have about 200-300 rounds, bought April of 2012. Only issue was the pesky white dot from the front sight flying off during qualifications.

Came to this thread to be amazed. I have never owned a flawless anything.

Bought my first 9mm Shield just short of a year ago. Perfect. No malfunctions, very accurate. Just purchased a second 9mm Shield, but haven't gotten it to the range yet. Out of the box, the trigger on my new one seems a lot nicer than the first. No grittiness, smooth pull, nice trigger weight and a clean break. Can't ask for more than that.

The only problem we've had with our Shield's is they eat too much ammo.:). I have the 40 and my wife has the 9. My 40 has about 800 rounds and hers is closer to a thousand due to being easier to shoot.

My Shield .40 is fairly new. It carries an asterisk after the word perfect. The problem was S&W forgot to install the pin to hold in the sear deactivation lever. Not a big deal, I just wanted the free mag when I sent it back with an "issue". :D , Has ~200 flawless rounds since its return.

I have a Shield 9 that's has had over 700 rounds of ammo fired through it with no problems. I've fired Federal, WWB, Tula, Remington, Winchester PDX defenders, and American eagle ammo so far that I can remember. The only problem encountered was the loss of a dot on the sights which was quickly fixed with white nail polish.

Just qualified for my CCW with the Shield 9mm yesterday. Didn't shoot quite as well as I did in the dry runs I did at the range, but i did mostly tear up the 9 and 10 rings. The guy who taught the class was going on and on about the M&P line before he knew what pistols people had. There were only 3 in the class. I had the Shield, one guy had an M&P 9mm fs, and the other guy had a fancy 2 tone Kimber. After the shooting, the guy went on and on about the M&P's all the more, especially the Shield. I think the guy with the Kimber felt left out, until the instructor took everyone into a dark room with the Kimber, to demonstrate what a good set of night sights look like.
Have over 600 consecutive rounds through the Shield with no issues.
