Actually a Crown Victoria was never a model A where as the M&P 38 simply had its name changed. Just for argument sake let's assume that the numbers started on 1/1/1957. That means that same exact gun was a M&P on 12/31/1956. On that date a gunsmith at S&W had left unfinished on his table a M&P and when he came back to work the next day the company told him to stamp it with a "10". But it was the same gun. Nothing about it had changed. That's like what's the difference between a Datsun 280z and a Nissan 280z? Nothing except the name. Same car
