Hi, the diameter of a .22 and a .22WMR are also not the same

.22 = .222
.22WMR = .224

I learned this fact due to owing a Ruger Single 6 that can shoot both kinds of ammo by changing out the cylinders, the barrel its more chambered for the .22mag.

The other problem would be the bore breach/chamber (where the bullet sits before firing) would be too short for the brass case of the .22 mag. ie the brass would be pushed into the riffling of the barrel

Well those should work ;) just as long as there .22LR and just out of curiosity what did you pay for them? Due to all the panic buying and hard to find ammo.

Note 100th Post!!

No, No and No ! People need to learn about firearms. Some of what I've been reading is of great concern.

It's better to have a place like this to ask than to experiment on their own, get hurt, and get turned off from firearms when something goes kaboom in a bad way.

I agree , IF they ( you ) ask beforehand. You need to have a general understanding of firearms and I'm seeing posts that scare the hell out of me. People need to know firearm safety and their weapon. Not doing so, leads to disaster !

Nothing's going to go boom. The .22 Magnum won't even fit in a .22LR chamber, much less fire. The Magnum was made that way for a reason - to keep people from doing a dumb thing.

I was stating a general principle about how to handle newcomers' questions, and not debating the ability of a chamber sized for a 22lr being able to chamber a 22 mag.

That's funny blockhead we been her roughly the same amount of time, but yet I have almost 4 times the post as you. I was just asking a simple question as of why wouldn't a .22 WMR work in out guns, or if it even would.

I may be new to this forum and the 15-22 (and I am), but I've been shooting and collecting firearms for most of my life. I blame it on a Wyoming upbringing.

Heck, and I thought I was defending you from the others who were ribbing you for asking a dumb question! :eek: No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.
