I have well over a dozen S&W knives. They're a great knife for the money. It doesn't matter where they were made, because Smith & Wesson receives the profit from the sale. They're an American company.

If you're that worried about it, take a look under the hood of your "American" car. You'll be hard pressed to find anything that was made, and / or assembled in this country.

Best you can do is check for the Made in America tag on it and maybe research the company. I buy all my American Flags at the Ace Hardware down the street from me in my little town. They are made by Valley Forge and proclaimed to be “Made in America by Americans with American Materials.”

I think buying an American Flag made in China kinda defeats the whole purpose. And I buy quite a few of them too. When we moved up here from Southwest Florida, I noticed quite a few of the flags flown by businesses were a little ratty. I started purchasing them and handing them out to the business owners and introducing myself. Great way to break the ice and meet the new town folk. Added plus is driving around and seeing all the new flags blowing proudly in the breeze that I provided.

I got my American Flag from Allegiance. I live on a peninsula so I get 20 mph winds daily. And that is on a calm day. I used to get the various different flags. Of course the "Made in China" ones usually were shredded within 3 months. The Valley Forge lasted a bit longer. But I've had the Allegiance now for 3 years and still looks like new. Not cheap to purchase, but if you are paying 1/4 the price and getting 1/10 of the use is crazy IMHO. I am not associated with Allegiance BTW. There has been Smith and Wesson branded junk for decades now. I used to have a Smith hat made in China.

China merch doesn’t bother me, but shoddy stuff does. Caveat emptor.

I bought a fake Chinese made Benchmade off TikTok for a whopping $10 delivered.

The quality, frankly, is stunning. Smooth action. Rock solid lockup. EXTREMELY sharp out of the box. Has held an edge very well for over a month.

I’ve bought many good items from China. Those people know how to make good products. Some, not all.

Seriously, you can't get away from it. No matter what you buy nowadays there will ALWAYS be some element of foreign manufacture involved. Which means that some part of what you pay is going overseas, even if indirectly. Like it or not, that's just the global economy in which we live.

China can built good or bad stuff. It's only a problem of "cahier des charges" we say in french. I think it's "spécifications" in english. They got good or bad steel or any métal needed for a knife. One day, they will make weapons, guns and everything... the later the better.
And the biggest fear IMHO is the day they will eat chocolate. Actually, Chinese people eat 100g /person/year.
We eat 7kg in France and 11kg in Switzerland. The day they start eating chocolate, there will not be enough for me and it will be too much expensive of course...
As you can see, i really have serious problems!!

Here's why voter reg should be enacted. I don't think we need non citizens voting who runs this country, do you? And we can be guaranteed others states have voter fraud with illegals voting in our elections.

View attachment 900546So we're shopping the other day when this catches my eye. An American flag covered Smith & Wesson knife honoring America's Heroes. I grad one immediately. I flip the package over, as I always do, and am shocked to find a tiny little MADE IN CHINA under the bar code. Now, i'm new to the Forum, but not to Smith & Wesson. I have 20+ Smith revolvers and im proud to own them. This might be it though. Let's celebrate American heroes by sending our money to China. It was around $30. I put it back. If it was $50 and made in America, I would have bought 4 to hand out to people I consider American heroes. Absolutely unacceptable.

Honestly, they're probably better than their current line up of sleeved barrel revolvers though.

When it comes to knives, S&W, Browning, Walther, etc. the brand name means nothing. Same goes for many knife brands.
Some are strictly imports, while some brands have different quality, origin, and price point tiers. Buying US made knives is easy with a little effort. Fwiw my edc knife is a Sig branded US made Hogue.
