Saw that yesterday on twitter. Whole lot of what the XXXX there, IMO. Couldn't count the number of firearm rules that idiot broke.

Another odd thing was no one seemed to get excited when the guy got shot.

I hope the victim sues the heck out of the range and the shooter.

What I would like to know is why did the soon to be victim not immediately swing his long gun around and decapitate the negligent shooter as soon as he saw out the corner of his eye the violation?

Somebody should’ve intervened immediately before the accident happened.

Unfortunately, I see poor gun handling like this all the time at public ranges and even private gun clubs here in SC.
Myself and a few other guys, get hassled all the time when we try to politely point out infractions and the risks of cutting corners on safety rules.

I can’t tell you how many times the people who behave this way reply with something like, “Hey, chill out! We’re just having fun.”

Sadly, that’s where we are as a society: the “bad guy” is the guy who knows the rules, notices a violation, and speaks up, not the guy who breaks the rules!

Every gun owner should watch this so they can see for themselves that range safety is no joke. It only takes a split second for disaster to hit when you're lax on safety!

In my younger days, I went to a couple of relatively open/public areas to shoot. If the stupid was perceptible, I left. Now I belong to a more expensive place that vets members and all new/renewing members have to watch the safety movie. A bit of a pain in the backside, but the environment is a lot better.

The only good thing I can say about that.....

....is that it looks as if the victim might survive, judging from where he was hit. However, he may not have use of that hip, pelvis or leg.

I leave the range if there’s more than one other shooter.
About my 12th ever visit to a range anywhere was in Alabama.
Sone old guy had just shot himself in the hand.
It made me wonder whether I should ever go to a range again.
That’s not good odds.
If he’s gonna make mistakes then when are they gonna be fatal ones involving someone else??
I don’t go that often but if I do, it’s during the week 9-5 when there are few if not anyone else there.

Makes me wonder if this was some kind of a set up or a movie or something? Not sure if this is real or not?
What was the guy filming for?? And why did he do nothing when he saw what was about to happen and what did happen??
Just filmed the guy falling down after being shot?
I’m not buying this for those reasons… But I guess it could be.

If this is a real negligent discharge, it is absolutely inexcusable. It does seem that reactions by the camera operator and other people were remarkable calm. Also, the victim glances towards the shooter at the beginning of the video clip, but seems totally unconcerned that there is a shotgun being pointed at him. These things make me go "hmmmmm".

THE REASON I do not shoot at outdoor public ranges. Scary, very scary. Came home from RVN, went shooting with couple friends and one shot me in the back! Lucky it was a 22, missed spine but collapsed left lung, spent week in hospital. Really made me miss being on Army pistol team where there were NO IDIOTS.

I know what you mean.
But, having seen much worse as far as gun handling is concerned, what the video depicts is not at all implausible.

Is it possible that somebody would’ve posted a video on the internet that’s fake?

I am right handed. When at the rifle table I sit far left where I can observe to my right When at the pistol range I stand far right where I can observe to left of me. I see many fathers not discipline their sons for sweeping the area. I immediately sound the alarm CLEAR and LOUD. I discretely inspect the line of tables before I go down range and look back to spot violators. I ain't fooling around. When supervisors don't do their job, I call them on it. I will not trust a gun case to stop a bullet.

I use my club range only during the week as well. One old-timer there (I, too, am an old-timer!) told me he shoots only on weekdays because on weekends all the morons come out.

Why sue the range owner?
That kind of mentality has gotten hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of acres of private land closed to shooting, hunting, and hiking over the last 30 years.
