Acorn & Oak Leaf carved holster - ideas on maker?

I picked this up at a local show for $5. It has pretty nice carving but no maker's mark. Any ideas who did it?

It measures 11 1/2" outside top to bottom and the flap will not close on a Kit gun. The inside of the outer snap is marked DOT twice. The lacing is very well done and it is in very good condition with nice and soft, thick leather.

Maybe for a Colt SA, Woodsman or Officer's Model?

Beautiful holster! Based on the style of lacing and the quality of the carving, my guess is it was made by a very good hobbyist leather worker.

Carved Holster

I have its identical twin, will post a couple of photos for comparison sake. It does not have any marks either. I don't have a gun that will fit into it. Agree that it looks like a Colt or Hi Standard might fit. Will post photos as soon as I can dig it out of the safe.

No question the work of a dedicated craftsman on the carving.
The pattern brings to mind the patterns of Al Stohlman that were available from Tandy; though the fine workmanship looks way advanced for a kitchen-table hobbyist.

Looks like the same pattern for sure. I prefer the stitched on belt loop over rivets on the inside of a holster. They could be from those Tandy patterns. I know I bought one for a sixgun belt and holster, bought the leather too, just never got ambitious enough to ruin some perfectly good leather, which I'm sure I would do. If I could find one for $5 bucks I'd feel like I won the lottery. Nice find!

This was a standard pattern in the Tandy Leather holster making catalog. Any skilled leatherwork hobbyist could make one just like it and many of us did! This particular oak leaf pattern is quite attractive and could have been made by literally hundreds of different amateur leather workers.
