Addiction....

I am SO confused!

Hi All,

Bought my first S&W last week. I planned to attend a local gun show and knew I wanted to try an S&W in 357. After an hour or so on the internet (before I knew of the S&W Forum), I figured I could remember a couple of numbers from the many excellent reviews. I settled on two, a Model-19 and a Model-686. I wound up with a 686 no-dash with a 4" barrel. Am VERY happy with it.

So, now I'm thinking I want one or two more. But, there are so many models with so many numbers, I don't know how to pick and choose my way through them!

Is there some on-line S&W site that lists the most popular models? Failing that, is there a chart or a pamphlet or even a book that one can use as a guide to the S&W wheel gun menagerie?

Many thanks,

John

Hello, my name is JCS&W and I am an addict. I am also an enabler, like fyimo. So, I do not believe you have a problem. I believe in what Allen-Frame stated, my Smiths are a hedge against inflation. Well, maybe I do not believe that, but that is my story and I am sticking with it. Have fun, enjoy the hunt.

Its not a set of N frames without the model 57 in 41mag too. What a sweet shooting round it really is. I thinki it was made for the guys who don't like the recoil of the 44mag. I had a buddy who wanted a 500 S&W but had no handgun experience so i let him shpoot my redhawk 7 1/2" in 44mag with standard 44mag loads. I don't think he liked the recoil because he never mentioned the 500 S&W again.

But the n farme model 27 in 357mag, model 57 in 41mag and the m29 in 44mag are really a nice N frame collection to have. I do perfer the nickel finishes first but i may throw in a few blues next.

But the 41mag is one of my favorite shooters i love the m58 w/4" barrel in nickel with the S&W presentation grips on it its sweet looking too.

BTW; Once your 401k hits a certain point it will skyrocket every year and go up and down but by the time you retire you will have way more than what your gun will be worth if your putting enough $$ into it. Then you can have all the S&W you want at 59 1/2. Don't ask me how i know.

Buying a Quality Smith and Wesson revolver today is an investment
into an uncertain future.

Buy the best , and cry only once.

Allen Frame

Well put!

I no longer have as much trust in the financial market, as I once did.

Am I still invested in the market? Yes, but IMO it is too volatile a basket too trust w/ ALL the eggs. Hence, when I get on to a solid deal on a S&W revolver, one that I LIKE, & that does not appear to be overvalued, I jump - & write it up to portfolio diversification.

In addition to having a hedge against both inflation - & market volatility, I actually get to have a bit of fun in the process...

I got into S&W N frames in the past year or so. When i seen the brand new S&W N frames being sold for $699. @ my local dealer for the M57 thru M58 series in 41mag. I'd be dumb not to grab them so i got a few. I took the m57 in 41mag to the range to try out the 41mag being a redhawk 44mag guy for most of my shooting life (40+ years now). But a $999 handgun for $699 and its brand new thats a lot of future fun. I figure my guns will be will'd to my family not sold. So they can enjoy the fun too.

I both acknowledged and embraced my addiction quite a few years ago. Therapy is, indeed expensive...but is also very fulfilling!
