Additional I-Bolt calibers?

I've asked on here and e-mailed Smith and receive the same answer...stay tuned. I've also heard that if the calibers that are available now don't do well the likelyhood (?) of other cals. is doubtful. Seems like .223 and .308 should've been two of the first.

I agree.

If everything depends on the sale of the first two calibers, I don't think I would have gone with 270 and 30-06. But they must have some marketing data to have based their decision.

I read that they did a long action first, and plan to do a short one next.

Marlin did the same thing with their new XL7, and now they've got the XS7 too.

It's probably that old adage that it's easier to take metal off than to add it on. So start with the bigger one?

What they need is a short barrel (16 or 18 inch) version. One thing I have found as I get older is that I do not care for long barreled rifles or shotguns. With modern powders, you just do not need long barrels to get full velocity. Thus, S&W, if you are listening, how about a carbine length .30-06 or .308?
