Pistol Caliber Carbines

I've got several .357 lever and 1 IMI Timberwolf .357 pump, no pix of lever guns handy but here's Timberwolf & a nice mod 28 and a Case XX Bulldog. Gunshow haul from days gone by. Still have everything.

Several years ago a gun show buddy was handling the Atlanta PD disposal of Ruger PCs in both 9mm and .40. Like new, just rode around in the trunk. I got a few of those and really like them, especially compared to the new models.

I don't consider a .30 M1 carbine a pistol caliber, it's a purpose designed carbine round. I do think the M1 carbine makes a dandy personal defense long gun and I carried one as a patrol carbine in my sheriff's patrol car for about 10 years.

I retired the M1 carbine from duty use a few years ago and went with a Ruger PC4 carbine in .40 S&W that I still carry and I have been very pleased with it.

I too have a PC4. They were in many patrol cars until AR15s started showing up. It is incredibly rugged and more accurate than I could have ever imagined. Mine has the Uncle Mikes double magazine buttstock holster as well, and a uncle mikes nylon sling. It is a great home defense weapon. Also have a Marlin Camp 9 carbine with the S&W 20 round magazines. It also takes the 15 round mags from my S&W 915 pistol. A great way to save money , same magazines, same ammo. Photos to follow!

I only have one and it's sort of old school, I guess. I bought my IMI Uzi Model B back around 1988., iirc. It's been a wonderful weapon that has never failed me. Seen here with an Israeli wooden stock in place of the original metal folding stock. I like the looks of both stocks but don't have a photo of it wearing the original folder.

Current production winchester 73 carbine in 357. It gets carried almost every evening around the home place on perimeter dog walks and dusk skunk patrols. It usually has a 38 short colt load in the chamber for rattlesnakes, a 38 spl up next then the rest 158 gr jsp 357s. Its not prime bear (the grumpy kind) country but they roam within 3 or 4 miles. Recent pistol carry not in town or prime bear areas has been a Cimmaron/Uberti 45 SA, the old model P.

Some police agencies with weak minded cowards in command went with the PCC (like the Ruger) because they were not willing to stand up and make sure that the had 14" shotguns and 12" or so suppressed ARs, which are far better tools. After a few high profile incidents, the worst of that stopped, although I have heard of some continuing silliness of that nature.

OMG, this is still rolling?

I don't know how much more specific you can get than using the language in the official patent by the applicant (or his lawyer) himself - this comes from the Colt Patent of 1836:

"My Invention consists, First, in the adaptation and application of certain levers, lifters, slides, plates, connecting pieces, springs, a ratchet, a mandril or arbor, a shackle, and other apparatus, as herein-after particularly shewn and described, to that species of gun and pistol having a cylindrical breech piece revolving round an axis parallel to the axis of the barrel, in which breech piece six or more chambers are bored, each capable of containing a charge of powder and shot, and which charges by the revolution of the cylinder may be brought successive..."

An old Mech-Tech 10mm upper for a Glock 20 lower. Works pretty good.

Olympic AR 10mm upper. Worked great on the Colt M16a2 lower. Made a good pig gun in the thickets.

Picked up this Henry Side gate in .357 a year ago, but still haven't shot it.

Yeah, I have an old Mech Tech upper for a 45 acp. and one for .38 Super that mount on a 1911 A1 lower. Both function very well and I reload ammo for both calibers.
