Duck Duck Go email has privacy and pretty good security with ad blockers. Down side is lots of sites don't work with Duck as Duck Blocks all their garbage ads and trackers.

AOL, Gmail, Yahoo...All free. I've been using AOL and Yahoo for many years.

I use gmail a fair amount but urge caution. Google steals everything that isn't nailed down regarding your personal information and using gmail ensures they know more about you than you might know or wish. Duck duck go is excellent for anything remotely out of the ordinary and does not track you, record you, and sell you. I know how to stay out of trouble and do not consider myself even slightly paranoid but google knows every move you make and frequently before you make it.

The "free" ones are making plenty of money on you.

I have used iCloud for the last 9 years. I've never had anything noticeable happen as far as information stealing. They couldn't be any worse than google.
