S&W announced the addition of two variants to the SD/SD-VE line in late June 2017.
The new SD variants have white dot sights and will feature black armornite slides and Gray or FDE frames.
The FDE SD-9 and gray SD-40 are cataloged on the S&W web page: FDE SD9 = 11998, FDE SD40 = 11999, Gray SD9 = 11995, Gray SD40 = 11996.
According to Shooting Illustrated, the product release announcement from S&W says the MSRPs are different for the two colors, with FDE listing at $389 and Gray at $419... but the S&W web page shows the same MSRP ($389) for both.
Among other possibilities, this provides the opportunity for someone to create a two-tone SD9/40VE with a silver-colored slide over Gray... and at the same time, an all-black SD9/40 with metal sights (which hasn't been available for a couple of years).

Well, Photobucket has just put the kabosh on "third party hosting" of pictures -- unless the user is willing to join a premium plan. For photos of these two new S&W offerings, click on either of the two links provided in the posting.
