With all the recent free float/gas block threads I'm kinda surprised that no one ever recommends an adjustable block. I put one on my last build and love it. It has a couple of advantages.
Recoil reduction is one. I was surprised at how much gas I could cut off and have the rifle still operate. My block has 22 clicks between zero and wide open. I set it to run with my mildest reloads and that ended up being at 11. Recoil and muzzle jump have been reduced to almost 22LR levels with that load. I'm sure I could screw it down even more for factory or full power loads.
If you reload or just shoot for groups from a bench you can shut the gas off completely so you're not chasing brass all over the place. Also, with no hot dirty gas blowing back into the receiver cleaning becomes just a wipedown and barrel scrub. The rifle stays cooler to boot.
I just thought I'd throw this out there for those of you updating your rifles.
