Advice from ankle holster users

I used to be an ankle holster wearer, but soon gave it up due to weight and accessibility. I've used Safariland, Bianchi, Uncle Mikes and Blackhawk. But nothing really fit my needs. Now I am using Ted Blocker Holsters, in Tigard, Oregon ( - Ted Blocker Holsters ) for nearly all of my carry leather. Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable and have been crafting leather holsters for over 30 years. Give them a call. They can custom make anything.

I wear their belts and use their belt slide holsters to carry my M&P .45 concealed. It's extremely comfortable and very hard to detect when covered by a shirt.

Another for Renegade,I have two, actually I don't bother to remove when I play golf.

I have used a Fobus ankle holster for years with a model 640-1 (.357 hammerless 2 inch) . if you use it in conjunction with a short boot or equivalent of high-top tennis shoes, the holster rides on the shoe or boot, will not slide down and doesn't need to be tightened down on the ankle. It's always there, never too low, but remember practice, practice practice< never carry a gun anywhere unless you practice carrying and drawing your gun.

I have a Galco and love it! It's leather with the sheep on the inside of the leather. I've used it for many years however my wife has it now, so I've ordered one for my 1911 3".

I wear an Uncle Mike's with my S&W bodyguard, no suspension strap. I made a cuff using an old mouse pad with a velcro strap around it. I wear the cuff on my ankle under my sock. I put the ankle holster on my ankle just above the cuff and the cuff prevents it from sliding down. I've been using this setup for a couple years and it works great.

I use a De Santis ankle holster for my J frames and its the best I have found hands down. I don't know if they make one for a 3" J rame. Mine is made only for a 640 40, 642...no hammer. It even says it on package. I am sure they make one for the hammered Js. I can wear mine all day worth no problems. I also have the Galco that was shown earlier. I jave used that on chiefs specials. It's not as comfy as the De Santis but adequate. The biggest think is wearing high top shoes, boots, sneakers.

My Galco Ankle Glove was meant for a 2" but my 3" fits fine. The barrel coming out of the bottom does not hang up.
I recommend getting the garter. A 3" Model 36 is a bit on the heavy side and the garter keeps it from sliding.

I use a desantis for my 442 and a don hume for my cobra and detective special. The bianchi is far more comfortable with the lighter 442.Ive been carrying in an ankle holster for over 25 years and the more you do it the easier it gets.

I've never gotten past the Ankle Glove for such use. However, the Renegade obviously has a good following and press. I cut the tops off of 'holey' dress socks as shield to protect my skin from the wool, and the wool from my perspiration. Since I let the rig rest at the top of my foot, never any need for a garter, whether the one that comes with it, or otherwise. Have carried steel J's and even the 3913 in one, though the latter only with flared uniform trousers.
