Found a Shorty 45, fixed sights and one mag no box.

I shot it and should have taken it home but wanted to ask the pros. It shoots accurate with factory and target loads, allthough it will not hold open with target ammo (no suprise).

What is this worth and how difficult is it to obtain mags?

Thanks
Fred

Hi Fred,
I really like the Shorty 45's. Sounds like you are looking at the first version from the Performance Center (MK I), unless the sights have been changed. Magazines are not hard to come by. You can also buy new mags from S&W. What condition is the gun in? That will make a difference in the value.

In good condition, without the box or extra mags a Shorty 45 would bring around $750 locally. A little more on the auction boards.

Great little 45. Not too many made either. Buy it, shoot it, love it. Regards 18DAI.

Fred:

what condition is it in and how much are they asking for it?

If it is good/great condition for a reasonable price I would jump on it. I've seen the Shorty 40's go for $500 to $1100 (LNIB/NIB). Not sure if the Shorty45's are in that same range- I looked on one of the popular auction sites and they had 3 of the 40's listed but no Shorty45's

Thanks for your input.

The gun is in great shape. The price is only $500. I will be making a trip to my gun store today.

Thanks everyone,

Fred

YOU LUCKY DUCK! You ever see one of those again you better let me know asap. LOL..
I have a pc shorty 9 and 40. Great shooters. Was most impressed with their accuracy.. Just plain great guns..i shoot my others but keep coming back to them.
You got a real bargain. Good for you.
Enjoy!!

It takes the same mags as the 4516 series, the 457, the 4513. Probably others too. Quite easy to find. The 645/4506 mags work and stick out a bit.

Four hundred and fifty bucks!!! Lord man, you stole it, and well done to ya.
