What are simple and effective ways to store a handful of collectible revolvers on the top shelf of a gun safe?

How many is a handful and what is the distance from the top of the shelf to the top of the safe? They can be laid down and if there is little height available or they can be placed in wood, plastic or wire racks, barrels up or barrels pointing to the rear. Nicely padded racks will store a greater number if you have the available height. There are a lot of different racks up on the net.

Handgun rack's or clip on racks that hang under your top shelf. These can be had for $11.00 - $30.00 Gander Mountain, Midway, and Cabela's sell nice racks. Or two safes one for handguns one for long guns works for me.

I just put mine in their box and lay the box on the shelf with a label
on the outward end that identifies contents.

And if you have some that don't have boxes, just leave a space and use the boxed guns like bookends to hold the bare guns upright.

Or fold back the box flaps if you want to see them, and access them without needing to remove the box from the safe.

bigwheelzip, I like the white safes. I'm not familiar with them. Can you tell a bit about them. Btw, nicely organized!

Oh heck, that's not my stuff, it belongs to someone on another forum from Germany. He's only been collecting since 2009 and averaging a purchase every other day. I've been following his thread because he posts nice photos of beautiful guns I never see and because I admire his organization ideas for his constantly expanding collection.

I have a National Security safe that measures 60"x30"x24". Two of these baking sheets sit side by side on two shelves in the top of my safe. I do have shelf liner on the tray.

For Christmas I got the versatile double stack set. Check their website. Put it on my top shelf yesterday, have a lot more room now and used up some waisted space. Could only use a 6 gun width and have 12 guns in a organized space. Also got the under shelf set of 6 to see how they worked, another use of wasted space. Didn't realize how many handguns I had!!! I like having to open every bag when looking for a specific gun, they like the attention.. :)

That looks familiar.................but just from the pictures you've posted; that safe must extend back several hundred feet out into the yard!!! :D

I started out with a system ...... honest I did....

Red for Beretta,
Blue for S&W
Black for Sig
Camo for Browning

If they are old and came with boxes they stay together

Footlocker in attic full of plastic boxes...........from newer/shooter guns.
