I have a S&W 4566 and I would like to replace the factory grips with some nice wood or stag grips. I know Hogue makes some wood grips are there any other individuals or companies making wood grips for these 3rd generation semi-autos?

Also, are there any really good long lasting night sights that mount in the factory sight locations for the 4566? Any other suggestions besides night sights would also be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum... unfortunately for the 3rd gen pistols the choices of aftermarket grips are few and far between due to the grip also serving as the retainer for the hammer spring and stirup. Hogue is about the only game in town, and those wood grips adds girth... but the good news is you can always sand them down a bit to reduce the thickness, but they will always be thicker than the factory xenaloy grips.

Long lasting night sights?? They all seem to be about the same as the Tritium used in them decays (dims) at about the same rate.

There are a number of good night sights out there... MEPROLIGHT is one of the most common, Novak sights is what S&W puts on them.

In looking at night sights what's your main objective? They have a fairly specific use, the ability to aim in a darkened setting when you can not obtain a sight picture otherwise. In normal lighting they are no better than a conventional sight.

If you're looking for better visability in normal lighting, the fiber optic enhanced sights work really well, and are available in a myriad of colors and styles.

Take a look at Novak Sights the big advantage there is Novak's are what S&W puts on the 3rd gen pistols, so fitment should not be a problem.

There has been a lot of discussions on the forum about grips and sights for the 45xx pistols... try the search function, there's lots of good info from past threads lurking.
