This gun may look familiar to some of you old timers. A while back, I had the pleasure of taking a transfer of this very fine package (revolver, all tools, case, warranty card, letter, coke and ivory stocks). It came from a collector of impeccable taste.

I had the camera out last weekend, photographing an engraved 29-2 (http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-re...fully-engraved-inlaid-8-375-29-2-ivories.html) and realized that I had never photographed any of my other 44Mags. So this one (along with a few others) got some camera time as well. I hope that you enjoy the photos:

Sometimes, photos do a gun justice, these photos do not. It is one of the cleanest 44 Mag's that I have ever seen.

Thanks for letting me post,

I, too, especially like the ivory grips. Any idea who made them and when?

I don't have any info as to who made the grips or when. They are very nicely fit to the grip frame. As you note, the medallions are warn and some of the nickel finish has started to come off in places, making me believe that the medallions are old. The prior owner said that the ivory was on the gun when he acquired it and the "ageing" on the ivory makes me think that they have been untouched for some years. These observations lead me to believe that the stocks have been on the gun for a long time - for which I am grateful. They will stay on the gun for as long as I own it.:) I kind of like the configuration as is.:D

And Nframecollector, in answer to your question "How's she shoot?" - She shoots great, at least when I'm shooting her with my camera...;) I also believe that if I loaded her up with some Winchester Silvertips she would perform much the same as all of my other S&W's - very admirably!

Thanks to all for your kind comments,

what kind of documentation is required to prove whether the ivory used is legal or not legal? would you have to keep it with the gun? I think there was a cutoff year but I don't know what that is. just curious.
